FUNCTIONS OF RIMS,TUBES,FLAPS AND VALVES

 RIM
A rim is the part of the vehicle suspension that connects the axle to the tyre. It carries the axle driving/braking force and direction to the tyres, and transmits the tyre response to the vehicle.
They also help to maintain the tyre shape when inflated.

TUBES

The durability of the tyre depends on the performance of the tube.  Tubes are made of both natural and synthetic rubbers but synthetic rubber is superior in air tightness and heat resistance.

Function of tube: the air in the tire carries the weight of the vehicle and its load. The function of the tube is to retain air at a constant pressure. Therefore it must possess the following characteristics:

  • Minimum air leakage
  • Low elongation percentage.
  • Strong resistance to puncture.
  • Strong resistance to wear
 Valve

consists of three parts:
• Valve stem
• Valve core: Responsible for air intake and air retention (it’s a one-way valve).
• Valve cap: Protects the valve core from dust, water etc.

Important: The original new core must be used with new valve.
